Digital Photographic Portraiture By Denny Scott Photography
Unique Creations
Digital Photographic Portraiture is
much more than taking a camera, doing a point and shoot and making
prints. It is a more involved process using a combination of
tools of which the camera snap is a small part. The goal here is
to create something different. Personality, time of life,
relationships, and frame of mind are just a few things that a Digital
Photographic Portrait will bring out. As the artist, I bring to
the table a variety of skills used to create the portrait. As the
subject, you bring to the table your personality, time of life,
relationships, and frame of mind. Through planning and work
together we will create Digital Photographic Portraiture.
Here is what is involved
The first is the initial interview. We will get to know each
other a bit. We will bounce around ideas for possible portrait
creations. We will determine the techniques that we will use
including but not limited to studio or location, canvas, virtual
or artistic background replacement. We will discuss outfits,
props, and other resources. We will then set up the session
details. Please note, that this is a process that we work on
together. You will notice that you really do have many ideas, and
that I also have many ideas, but we will create the portrait together
combining our ideas. We will then set the session time. The
initial interview can be done in person or over the phone.
The second step is the special background and set procurement. If
using a special construction or using a location this will need to be
coordinated before the session. Use of Chroma Screen Replacement
techniques, background procurement can be done after the session.
In some cases I like to do this after the session in order to keep
coordinated perspective. For location, any special permits,
permissions, and reservations are procured.
The third step is is the capture session. Here is where I finally
get to use the camera in order to capture you. This is one of the
opportunities you have in life to have fun and go hollywood. Yes,
we are capturing you, but I will get the "You" out of you at this
point. Whether happy, serious, stoic, or somber or (your choice
of adjective), we will work together to capture you.
The forth step is where I go back and organize the session and put the
proofing on a FlipAlbum® CD. We will sit down together to
look at the first step of our creation. Do not worry about
color. At this point we are looking for expression, composition,
and the beginning of the print creation process. An option you do
have is to let me handle the complete creation process. With
this, I will do the selections based on my experience. I have
done this for clients especially when using Chroma Screen Background
Replacement and time is an issue or as some have said, they wanted a
complete art piece getting the artist's true influence only.
The fifth step is to do the prints. This step is where you have
now turned the process over to me exclusively. At this point I do
the background replacement. I do complete touch ups, blemishes,
glares, shines, the step to making the perfect portrait. After
doing this for each first portrait, I then complete the additionally
order prints. (A note about fee structure. I only charge
you once for the creation. After that, I use the same file for
printing so there is no need for an additional art fee. The art
fees are included in the first print prices shown below.)
The sixth step is delivery. This can be done by picking up at my
studio, delivery to your home or office, or delivery through the US
Postal system.
This may seem like an exhaustive process, but it is one that will
create a lasting memory.
A Tip for A better Portrait
The successful portrait is the one in which the subject and the
photographer both strive for perfection. Attitude shows up in a
photograph much the same
way as you can hear a radio disk jockey speaking while in a sour mood.
As
this is usually a situational event, it is necessary that we all work
hard
to create the perfect portrait. For those who wear makeup, choose one
shade
darker of lipstick to enhance facial features and also a more matte
finish to help reduce shine. Guys you may also wish to consider
makeup to help reduce the shine. Note that most television
personalities use this for this purpose..

lastly, prints are made.

fees, and the first 8 x 10 print based upon the planning session.
